I was showing waterfront property in Hilton Head Plantation on the 4th of July to some clients who have been visiting the island for the past 20 years. When I asked them if they had ever been on our waterways, I was surprised when they answered no.
So, we immediately made plans to take a boat tour of Ribaut Island on Monday. We left the dock at Governors Harbour just before noon and navigated Skull Creek up to the Port Royal Sound. They were amazed at the number of dolphins that play just off of aptly named Dolphin Head in Hilton Head Plantation. We also watched pelicans feeding near the shoreline and even spotted a loggerhead turtle.
Although Hilton Head is famous for its great golf opportunities, I would like to encourage all of you who have not experienced our waterways to make a point of doing so on your next visit. Kayaks, canoes, jet skies and even power boats are readily available to rent.
